PLATO – BULGARIA is a joint project of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria and Limburg, Belgium and with the financial support of the Flemish government.
The project’s objectives are to assist Bulgarian SMEs in their preparation for the enlarged EU market by training, coaching, and experience exchange.
PLATO is one of the pylons in the Flemish government’s policy towards SMEs. After its successful implementation in 9 Belgian regions, an international committee initiated transfer of the Plato Know-How to other countries. The project has been multiplied in Ireland (8 regions), The Netherlands (3 regions), Germany, Denmark (4 regions) è Sweden (2 regions).
The enlarged Plato network provides to SMEs very good transnational opportunities for economic development.
The project has been opened also to Central and East European countries, and has been implemented in Poland and the Czech Republic. In 2002 the Flemish Government opened a budget line for the project PLATO – BULGARIA.

The project is implemented under the patronage of the Mayor of Stara Zagora – Dr. Evgeniy Jelev and the Regional Governor Mrs. Maria Neykova and with the special assistance of the National media National Business Post newspaper and Darik Radio.
